3 to 5 million years ago a sandstone ridge was formed, the Wilson Grove formation.
The ridge was once beachfront property that created the sandy soil at Fog Crest.
The Fog Crest vineyard with its sandy loam soil is terroir suited for Burgundian wines.

Red soil offers excellent drainage for roots and the roots go deep to find water.
Cool fog rolls in to cool things down. Prime grape growing.
All of these factors make for an excellent fruit for wine making.

Add a Frenchman, Jerome Chery, winemaker, to round out the success.
Owners Rosalind and James Manoogian purchased this 30 acre parcel in 1997.

2005 the Fog Crest Chardonnay was launched
The tasting room opened in 2014 after nine years of producing the Fog Crest Brand.
