Francis Ford Coppola Winery
Updated: Jan 12
Key Info
I call it the ‘Harry Potter Castle’.
Located in Alexander Valley near downtown Geyserville.
One of my favorite places to frequent and to take out of town guests.
Part adult Disneyland for wine lovers and part 1950’s Coney Island vibes.
Considered one of Sonoma County’s most beautiful wine castles.

Who is Francis Ford Coppola?

Francis Ford Coppola Winery is collaborative.
They proudly have longstanding relationships with 150 grape growers and offer…
Premium price per ton for sustainable grapes and even encourages their growers to become sustainable certified.
After harvest, each grape grower comes to the winery and barrel samples their fruit.
The winery employs more than 400 people in Sonoma.

Corey Beck is President and Director of winemaking and General Manager.
In 2016 Corey was named one of the “Top 50 Leaders” by Wine Business Monthly, one of the biggest honors in the wine industry.
Agostino Coppola, Francis’s grandfather, made wine in the basement of his New York apartment. He stored the wine in concrete vats. His wine making passion lives on with Coppola Winery.
The winery received the Green Medal Award for Sustainable Wine-growing Leadership.

Gia Coppola, Francis Ford Coppola’s granddaughter, is a key player in the winemaking business.
She is making brighter wines with lower alcohol content and in a price range for the new generation of wine drinkers.
Coppola is always expanding.
In 2013 he purchased Geyserpeak Winery in Geyserville and renamed the place Virgina Dare Winery. Here the focus is on Russian River Valley Pinot and Chardonnay.
Sheila’s Recommendation
Coppola Winery is my go-to place!
I celebrated my 35th birthday poolside with a bottle of Sofia Sparkling.
My friends and I switched between laying poolside, playing bocce ball and swimming.

Rustic Restaurant is everything I want and more in a restaurant.
I can eat by the pool and watch swimmers.
Eating inside the castle is also a cozy ambiance.
My favorite dining experience at Coppola is on the patio overlooking vineyard views.
I always buy a bottle of their wine to drink with dinner.
Super reasonably priced, no corkage, and reliable drinking quality.
My mouth DROOLS for the Coppola family Zeppole recipe.
Fried, savory, donoughts that they bring out before the meal.
I dip my Zeppole in the Coppola Mamarella hot tomato sauce dip.
I keep this sauce on hand at my house too, it’s THAT delicious.
My must orders from the menu are:
Ceaser Salad, Rigatoni with Meatballs AND the Sofia Pizza.

Before or after dinner, browse the movie artifacts.
The desk from the Godfather, movie costumes from Dracula, and Coppolla’s Oscars are quite jaw dropping to see up close.
Follow Francis Ford Coppola winery on Facebook.
My next adventure at Coppola’s is experiencing their summer ‘Dancing Under The Stars’ event.
I appreciate that their Facebook Page is kept up to date.
