Book in advance and you might be able to taste with Kathleen, the winemaker, owner, grower, and all around wine goddess.

Kathleen is an engaging storyteller and she has British connections.

I’m obsessed with anything and everything British so I delighted in her stories.

She is married to a man from England. She studied Art History in the UK. She lived in England for 16 years. She has an MBA in corporate finance and worked as an accountant in England.

In 1997 she was visiting her family in Napa and her husband’s family who had moved to the states.

During the vacation they had a hair-brained idea to give up their careers and move back to Sonoma County.

Through a series of serendipitous events which included coming back to England from vacation and someone wanting to suddenly buy their house….they decided to make the move official!

Kathleen began Inman in 2000.

She planted her 10.45 Olivet Grange Vineyard in the heart of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley.

In 2010 she opened the brand new Inman Family Winery made of all recycled materials. A wide variety of wines are offered here:

Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot, Brut Rosé Sparkling.

Kathleen has a gentle approach to winemaking.

Non-interventionalist winemaking practices. Nuanced wines with a sense of place.

Kathleen is super real and authentic.

She talks to her vines and gives them encouragement. I do the same with my indoor houseplants! Isn’t her grape, watercolor tattoo, cool?!?!

Inman Family Wines is very focused on environmental and business responsibility.

She calls this “eco-ethics”.

For example:

The tasting room and cellar is solar powered! Everything is electric.

All waste water is recycled and reprocessed.

Kathleen does not make wines to fit what the main market wants.

Kathleen makes wine that she loves and her wine following is aligned with her tastebuds.

She also makes sparkling wine and her Endless Crush Rosé is my favorite of ALL TIME.

She recommends:

Pour some Inman bubbly, watch movies and eat popcorn with truffle salt. A perfect pairing.
