You May Not Know
The Medlock Ames tasting room property has been a neighborhood fixture since the early 1900s.
It used to be known as the Alexander Valley Store and Bar.
Just outside the tasting room is an edible garden.
On the day I visited it was HOT!
Fresh mint from the garden was steeping in ice cold water. Delish!
I’ve only been to the tasting room.
I had no idea Medlock Ames had a seprate ranch called Bell Mountain.
Bell Mountain Estate ranch stretches from Alexander Valley in the north to Russian River Valley in the south and borders Chalk Hill.
You can take a $40 tours with the winemaker up at the ranch. Estate wines are poured and a local cheese plate is served.
The Medlock Ames vineyards are farmed organically with no insecticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides.
I find it fun that many of my local friends have at one point or another worked at Medlock Ames.
I’m sad that the beloved Alexander Valley Bar attached to the tasting room is closed.
So many memories at this bar.
Watching the spectacular sunset.
Sunday concerts with the best food trucks.
My friends and I feel a bit lost without our favorite bar meeting spot.

She’s another Sonoma wine lover!
You can spot her on the Medlock Ames insta/fb account.
She interviews Ames for a video series called, ‘Ask Ames.’
Followers send in their questions about wine, wine making and Ames, winemaker, answers.
Bring a picnic from nearby Jimtown Store and enjoy a lovely day here.
